Rio Vista has been on a difficult stretch since their win on January 21. They fell just short of the Esparto Spartans by a score of 2-1 on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 back in January.

Rio Vista's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Esparto, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Coming up, Rio Vista will face off against Woodland Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rio Vista's last four contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Esparto, they wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next game, a 1-0 defeat against Lindhurst on the 11th.
