Softball Game Preview: Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cougars vs. City College Black Knights

The Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cougars will take on the City College Black Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Our Lady of Mount Carmel has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with four straight defeats, while City College will come in with five straight victories.

On Friday, Our Lady of Mount Carmel came up short against Beth Tfiloh and fell 9-4.

Erin Martin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Mya Whitlock, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, City College got the win against Douglass on Friday by a conclusive 25-7. Fans of the Black Knights have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

City College got a massive performance out of Imani Lewis, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, eight RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI Lewis has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklynn Murrell, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs.

City College's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 18 runs thus far. As for Our Lady of Mount Carmel, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
