Homestead had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged out the Heritage Patriots 3-2 on Saturday. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Brady Henline paced Homestead's offense, picking up 15 kills. Henline got some help from Jesse Biedenbach and his 41 assists. Michael Hileman and Eli Hallman kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.
Despite the loss, Heritage had strong showings from Chase Buuck, who had 12 digs and two aces, and Braden Walter, who had eight kills and eight digs. Walter is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had five or more in each of the last 15 games he's played.
Homestead's win bumped their record up to 29-5. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-5.
After both having extra time off, Homestead and Carroll will shake off the rust and duke it out at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Chargers will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight. Heritage does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
