Baseball Recap: Page County Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Page County's offense. They fell just short of the Luray Bulldogs by a score of 1-0 on Friday. The match marked the first time this year in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Caden Combs made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double. He has become a key player for Page County: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 0-9 otherwise.

Page County dropped their record down to 2-10 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Luray, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Page County will face off against Stuarts Draft at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Luray, they will square off against Clarke County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
