Basketball Preview: Granville Golden Horde vs. Bolton Central Eagles
The Granville Golden Horde and the Bolton Central Eagles will round out the year against one another at at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Granville has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with six straight defeats, while Bolton Central will come in with four straight victories.
Last Friday, Granville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 69-63 to North Warren Central. While losing is never fun, the Golden Horde can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 326th, while the Cougars are ranked 138th).
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bolton Central). They claimed a resounding 74-30 win over Lake Placid. With the Eagles ahead 42-12 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Bolton Central found their leader in sophomore Jaxon Egloff, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 29 points. Egloff's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Foy, who went 8 of 11 en route to 17 points.
Bolton Central's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Granville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
