Baseball Recap: Elkins Starts Season with Victory Against Notre Dame

Elkins had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Thursday. The Tigers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 19, 2024.

Elkins got a massive performance out of Michael Love, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits Love has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jacob Shiflette, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI.

Elkins was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Notre Dame only posted a batting average of .167.

Notre Dame's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Elkins wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 7-4 defeat against Grafton on the 22nd. As for Notre Dame, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-4 loss against Preston on the 22nd.
