Softball Recap: Compton Early College's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Compton Early College hadn't done well against Animo Leadership recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Rising Phoenix walked away with a 13-9 victory over the Aztec Eagles. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 20-3 back in March.

Compton Early College got a massive performance out of Melany Bolaines, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Allysa Ruiz was another key player, going 1-for-5 with one home run and two runs.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Compton Early College lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March.

Compton Early College moved to 12-5 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Animo Leadership, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Compton Early College will venture away from home to square off against Environmental Charter at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Animo Leadership, they will head out to face off against Lennox Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
