Softball Game Preview: Jourdanton Indians/Squaws vs. Natalia Mustangs

For the second straight game, Jourdanton will face off against Natalia. The Indians/Squaws will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

While Jourdanton's win against Natalia wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Indians/Squaws skirted past the Mustangs 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Indians/Squaws have posted against the Mustangs since April 2, 2019.

Hailey Sralik made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Sralik wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Megan Salazar, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

Jourdanton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Natalia struck out ten times.

Jourdanton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Natalia, they moved to 21-8-1 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jourdanton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like Natalia struggles in that department as they've averaged .372. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
