Softball Game Preview: Pender Patriots vs. Heide Trask Titans

The Pender Patriots are taking a road trip to face off against the Heide Trask Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

The scorekeeper got an easy start last Thursday as neither Pender nor Wallace-Rose Hill made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Patriots fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 4-3. The Patriots' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Pender saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katie Iddings, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Kimora Mcallister was another, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

Meanwhile, Heide Trask didn't have quite enough to beat St. Pauls on Tuesday and fell 4-2.

Dava Bullard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits.

Pender's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Heide Trask, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season.

Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pender has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Heide Trask struggles in that department as they've averaged .479. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Pender suffered a grim 11-5 defeat to Heide Trask in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
