Basketball Recap: Jackson Takes a Loss

Jackson lost against TERRA Environmental back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Jackson Generals fell 53-45 to TERRA Environmental. The Generals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Jackson lost, don't look at Jordany Fils-Aime. Despite the final result, he posted 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. That's the most steals Fils-Aime has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Dorian Jules, who put up ten points.

Even though they lost, Jackson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

TERRA Environmental's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mateo Baron, who had 17 points and five rebounds. Baron's evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Raul Hernandez, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

Jackson's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for TERRA Environmental, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.

Jackson will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on American at 7:30 p.m. on January 7th. Jackson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.7 points per game this season. TERRA Environmental will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against Southwest at 7:30 p.m. on January 7th. Southwest will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something TERRA Environmental surely won't give up without a fight.
