Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gillespie). They blew past the East Alton-Wood River Oilers 85-64 on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 79-53 back in December of 2024.

Several Oilers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordyn Spiller, who posted 19 points in addition to six boards and five steals. Those five steals gave Spiller a new career-high. Tamarion Marshall was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.

Gillespie's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-15. As for East Alton-Wood River, they dropped their record down to 2-20 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.

Gillespie has already played their next matchup, an 82-59 loss against Vandalia on the 31st. As for East Alton-Wood River, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 65-36 defeat against Freeburg on the 31st.
