Baseball Recap: Gateway Find Success

After low-scoring totals in their previous three game, Gateway brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. Everything went their way against the Cape Coral Seahawks on Wednesday as they made off with a 16-7 victory. The Eagles not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27, 2025 (when they won 15-1).

Gateway got a massive performance out of Jacob Wheaton, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Anthony Colon, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Gateway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2025.

Gateway's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Cape Coral, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Gateway will look to takes advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Southwest Florida Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cape Coral, they will head out to face off against Lehigh at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
