Basketball Recap: Pop Cato Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lower Richland

After losing to Lower Richland the last time they met, Lakewood decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Lakewood Gators walked away with a 64-55 win over the Lower Richland Diamond Hornets on Tuesday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lakewood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Pop Cato, who posted 15 points and six steals. Those six steals gave Cato a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius Franklin, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds.

Lakewood now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Lower Richland, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakewood will take on Hartsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lakewood is facing Hartsville at the right time seeing as Hartsville is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Lower Richland, they will square off against South Florence at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
