Basketball Recap: Elijah Mauney Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

After losing to Ashland the last time they met, Falkner decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Falkner Eagles snuck past the Ashland Blue Devils with a 62-56 victory on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Falkner got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Elijah Mauney out in front who posted 23 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Mauney's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Nunley, who put up 18 points and five steals.

Falkner's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Ashland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Falkner will host Pine Grove at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ashland, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Hickory Flat at 7:30 p.m.
