Basketball Recap: Alyssa Jacobs Key Part of a Team Effort in Panthers Win

St. John Paul II posted their biggest win since December 6, 2023 on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Altha Wildcats with a sharp 35-14 victory. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 38-26 win the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.

St. John Paul II's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alyssa Jacobs, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Those 17 points gave Jacobs a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Naumann, who posted 11 points and five steals.

With the win, St. John Paul II broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-4. As for Altha, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

St. John Paul II wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 33-25 defeat against Franklin County on the 14th. As for Altha, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 39-33 loss against Liberty County on the 13th.
