Baseball Game Preview: Boulder Creek Jaguars vs. O'Connor Eagles

For the second straight game, Boulder Creek will face off against O'Connor. Boulder Creek will venture away from home to square off against O'Connor at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Boulder Creek has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Boulder Creek is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against O'Connor on Tuesday. They lost 13-1 to the Eagles. The Jaguars haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

For O'Connor's part, Tommy Pascanu made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Pascanu has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Matthew Del Carlo looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

Back at the plate, Abel Garcia was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Tito Adelakun was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

O'Connor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

O'Connor has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. Boulder Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.
