Basketball Game Preview: Providence Grove Patriots vs. Eastern Randolph Wildcats

The Providence Grove Patriots will venture away from home to face off against the Eastern Randolph Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Providence Grove earned a 58-49 win over Wheatmore.

Providence Grove's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Will Dabbs led the charge by putting up 22 points and eight rebounds. Dabbs has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Collins, who posted 12 points.

Meanwhile, Eastern Randolph unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 68-57 to Southwest Onslow. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 191st, while the Stallions are ranked 32nd).

Providence Grove's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Eastern Randolph, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Providence Grove lost to Eastern Randolph on the road by a decisive 78-62 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Providence Grove avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
