Football Recap: Roncalli's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

After flying high against Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory last Friday, Roncalli came back down to earth. The Royals took a 22-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the La Salle Lancers on Friday. While the Royals had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Lancers 7-0.

Collin Ash threw for 187 yards and a pair of TDs. Luke Roeder was his top target, picking up 109 receiving yards and two scores.

Roncalli moved to 4-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for La Salle, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roncalli will take on Harrison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Royals will be up against the Raiders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.14 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for La Salle, they will challenge St. Xavier at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bombers' defense has only allowed 12.4 points per game this season, so the Lancers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
