Soccer Game Preview: University Prep vs. Apple Valley

The University Prep Jaguars will square off against the Apple Valley Sun Devils at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

University Prep is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals on Saturday, they were much more limited against Etiwanda on Saturday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1. The loss was University Prep's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Apple Valley's season-opener on Friday wasn't quite what the team was looking for considering the end result. They and Riverside Prep finished up their contest with a 3-3 draw. The outcome might've been different if Gilberto Gutierrez hadn't been hit with a yellow card, which no doubt limited his ability to make aggressive plays down the stretch.

David Esparza and Eduardo Gutierrez scored all three of Apple Valley's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Having lost for the first time this season, University Prep fell to 3-1-1. With that draw, Apple Valley's record moves to 0-0-1.

University Prep skirted past Apple Valley 2-1 in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. Will the Jaguars repeat their success, or do the Sun Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
