Football Game Preview: Hillsboro Hiltoppers vs. North Mac Panthers + How To Watch

The Hillsboro Hiltoppers are taking a road trip to square off against the North Mac Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Mac took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Hillsboro, who comes in off a win.

Hillsboro took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Staunton/Bunker Hill 44-22. The Hiltoppers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Hillsboro got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Amony Anderson out in front who rushed for 227 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.9 yards per carry. Anderson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Patton, who rushed for 129 yards and three scores on only ten carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hillsboro was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 488 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 185 rushing yards in nine consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, North Mac played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Carlinville and fell 64-21. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-14.

North Mac didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Chase Millburg and Hank Hammann. Hammann is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last four games he's played.

North Mac now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Hillsboro, their record is now an identical 2-3.

Hillsboro took a serious blow against North Mac in their previous matchup back in August of 2024, falling 34-6. Can the Hiltoppers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
