Basketball Recap: Minooka Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

If Joliet West wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Minooka, they should've done a better job of containing Madelyn Kiper. The Minooka Indians blew past the Joliet West Tigers, posting a 79-47 win thanks in part to Kiper, who shot 9-for-11 from long range and dropped a double-double on 41 points and 12 boards. Those 41 points gave her a new career-high.

Despite the loss, Joliet West saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gabrielle Gavin posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Makayla J Chism, who had eight points.

Minooka has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points per game. As for Joliet West, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Minooka has already played their next game, a 46-37 victory against St. Charles North on the 18th. As for Joliet West, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Joliet West Tigers take on the Plainfield Central Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
