Baseball Game Preview: Heavener Wolves vs. Navajo Indians

The Heavener Wolves will venture away from home to challenge the Navajo Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Heavener has struggled recently with eight losses in a row, while Navajo will arrive with three straight wins.

Heavener managed to slip by Morris the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Heavener came up short against Morris on Monday, falling 26-16. One positive for the Wolves, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Willie Dehart made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Spencer Clubb was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Even though they lost, Heavener always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .658. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Navajo won against Binger-Oney on Thursday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. Navajo skirted past Sterling 8-7.

Navajo pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Heavener, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Heavener might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Navajo in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Heavener avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
