Volleyball Recap: Wauzeka-Steuben Hornets vs. De Soto Pirates

Wauzeka-Steuben lost against De Soto on September 4th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hornets took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Wauzeka-Steuben was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made De Soto work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-15, 23-25, 25-21.

De Soto found their leader in sophomore Brynn Venner, who had 12 digs. Those 12 digs set a new season-high mark for Venner. Ella Koch also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Wauzeka-Steuben now has a losing record of 4-5. As for De Soto, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season.
