Basketball Recap: Greencastle Beats Danville for Their Fourth Straight Win

Greencastle waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They secured a 67-62 W over the Danville Warriors. For the Tiger Cubs, this counts as revenge for the 73-31 win the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.

Greencastle got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sam Gooch out in front who went 6 for 10 en route to 20 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Trevin Long, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 16 points.

Danville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Steven Webb, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Webb a new career-high in points. Elijah Tricker was another key player, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds.

Greencastle pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Danville, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Coincidentally, Greencastle and Danville will both be playing Tri-West Hendricks the next time they take the court. Danville will head out to face Tri-West Hendricks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Greencastle will host them at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st.
