Softball Game Preview: Lennox Academy Panthers vs. Brentwood School Eagles

The Lennox Academy Panthers will square off against the Brentwood School Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lennox Academy has four straight wins, Brentwood School has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Lennox Academy made easy work of Animo Leadership and carried off an 18-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ziurell Ruiz made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Valerie Lozano-Prado was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Ariana Olmos was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Lennox Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Brentwood School came up short against Archer School for Girls on Thursday, falling 19-3. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly 16 runs.

Lennox Academy's win bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Brentwood School, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Lennox Academy took their victory against Brentwood School in their previous matchup on Friday by a conclusive 14-5 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
