Preview: Concord Spiders vs. Carson Cougars
Concord is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Carson is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Concord Spiders will take on the Carson Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Concord scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past East Rowan 99-54 at home. The victory was just what Concord needed coming off of a 83-50 loss in their prior matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Concord to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jeremiah Howard, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. Judah Freeman was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Carson put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They breezed by Statesville at home to the tune of 79-44. With Carson ahead 48-27 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Concord is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Carson, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
Concord won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, slipping by Carson 61-60. Will Concord repeat their success, or does Carson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
