After two games on the road, Fairless is heading back home. They will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Canton South Wildcats at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Ohio (Fairless is ranked 336th, while Canton South is ranked 311th).
Even though Fairless has not done well against Northwest recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way last Wednesday. Fairless enjoyed a cozy 39-20 victory over Northwest.
Meanwhile, Canton South fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Port Clinton on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 55-48 to the Redskins. Canton South's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Summer Hastings-Peterson put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. She scored a full 45.8% of Canton South's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Doriana Hastings-Peterson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 12 rebounds and four steals.
Fairless' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-4. As for Canton South, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
