Basketball Game Preview: Calvary Christian Warriors vs. Booker Tornadoes

Calvary Christian is 3-0 against Booker since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Calvary Christian Warriors will host the Booker Tornadoes at 7:30 p.m. Calvary Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Booker likes a good challenge.

Calvary Christian is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Victory Christian Academy just ended the team's 14-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Storm, falling 82-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (59), the Warriors still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, it may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Booker ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They walked away with a 67-60 victory over Palmetto. The win was all the more spectacular given the Tornadoes' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while the Tigers are ranked 122nd).

Calvary Christian better focus on containing J.P Lattimore and Chris Perets as the pair were huge in Booker's win. Lattimore posted 22 points, while Perets put up 20 points. The match was Perets' third in a row with at least ten points. Darius Behn was another key player, putting up ten points.

Booker is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.2 points per game. As for Calvary Christian, their loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 21-3.

Everything came up roses for Calvary Christian against Booker in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, as the team secured a 70-32 victory. Does Calvary Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Booker turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
