Baseball Recap: Carlynton Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Winchester Thurston, Carlynton was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 13-3 margin over the Northgate Flames. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Flames: they've now won three in a row.

Connor Hart and Tyler Heinrich did most of the damage at the plate: Hart scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Heinrich went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave Heinrich a new career-high in RBI. Isaac Anker was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Carlynton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northgate only posted an OBP of .321.

Carlynton's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Northgate, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Carlynton Cougars face off against McKeesport Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northgate, they will head out on the road to take on Beaver Falls at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
