Basketball Recap: Bram Early and Ayo Awosanya Secure Win for Myers Park

Myers Park proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 42) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-52 win over the Palisades Pumas. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since February 23, 2024.

Leading Myers Park to victory were Ayo Awosanya and Bram Early. Awosanya went 6 for 9 on his way to 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks, while Early went 7 of 16 en route to 18 points. The dominant performance also gave Awosanya a new career-high in assists (three). Loch Brezeault was another key player, putting up nine points.

Palisades lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Matthew Dillard, who went 6 of 12 en route to 16 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Tymon Simpkins, who posted nine points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Myers Park has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points per game. As for Palisades, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-9.

Myers Park will welcome Ardrey Kell at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th. As for Palisades, they will venture away from home to square off against South Mecklenburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Palisades is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.6 points per game this season.
