Basketball Recap: Speedway Comes Up Short

Speedway lost against Cascade back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Sparkplugs took a 45-27 bruising from the Cadets. The Sparkplugs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Speedway still got an impressive performance from Madelynn Matelic, who posted 13 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. Matelic has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last four times she's played. Abby Noblet also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Speedway now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Cascade, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Speedway will square off against Covenant Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cascade, they will face off against Tri-West Hendricks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
