Basketball Recap: Speedway Sparkplugs vs. Cascade Cadets
Speedway lost against Cascade back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The game between the Sparkplugs and the Cadets didn't end well, with the Sparkplugs falling 45-27. The Sparkplugs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Speedway saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Madelynn Matelic posted 13 points in addition to eight boards and seven steals. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for Matelic. Abby Noblet also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Leading Cascade to victory were Taylor Gibbs and Macey Pugh. Gibbs went 7-for-14 en route to 17 points and five rebounds, while Pugh almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine boards. Thanks to that strong game, Gibbs now owns an excellent 45.5% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Addy Thompson, who had five points along with seven assists and four steals.
Speedway now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Cascade, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Speedway will venture away from home to face off against Covenant Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cascade, they will head out to challenge Tri-West Hendricks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
