Basketball Game Preview: Nevada Union Miners vs. Yuba City Honkers

Nevada Union is 0-4 against Yuba City since January of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. The Nevada Union Miners are taking a road trip to face off against the Yuba City Honkers at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Nevada Union is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They fell 64-53 to Roseville.

Meanwhile, Yuba City suffered their biggest defeat since February 1, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 65-41 to Placer. The Honkers have struggled against the Hillmen recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Nevada Union will have to contain Travis Lomeli as he made an impact in Yuba City's last game. He posted six points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Those four steals gave Lomeli a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Xavier Armstrong, who put up six points and five boards.

Nevada Union's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Yuba City, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.

Nevada Union came up short against Yuba City when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 53-42. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Yuba City's Alex Saavedra, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 20 points.
