Volleyball Recap: Archbishop Mccarthy Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Archbishop McCarthy can now relate to. They fell just short of the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Mavericks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Raiders earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Nick Castillo paced Archbishop McCarthy's offense, picking up 25 kills. Castillo got some help from Stephen Blakely and his 29 assists. Castillo also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with William Bui, racking up two apiece.

Archbishop McCarthy's loss dropped their record down to 12-14. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-8.

Archbishop McCarthy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Pompano Beach on the 6th. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Dreyfoos School of the Arts on the 6th.
