Softball Recap: Madison Comes Up Short

St. Joseph Academy hit Madison with a four-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Streaks fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 8-7. The Blue Streaks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lauren Martin and Paige Higgins did some serious damage despite the final result: Martin went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases and one run, while Higgins went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Maddy Jo Moore, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Madison's record now sits at 8-8. As for St. Joseph Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-13 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Madison will face off against Conneaut at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Joseph Academy, they will take on Rocky River at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
