Volleyball Recap: Jackson Center Tigers vs. Russia Raiders
Jackson Center was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Russia Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in August.
While Jackson Center was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-10, 25-20.
Their offense was headlined by Audrey Byrd and Tatum Reichert, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Laynee Shields and her seven assists. Haidyn Bensman controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Russia was led to victory by Kourtney Phlipot and Violet Armstrong. Phlipot had 19 digs and two assists, while Armstrong had eight digs and two aces. Armstrong has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last four times she's played.
Jackson Center's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Russia, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4.
