The Eastern Quakers will head out to square off against the Everett Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Eastern has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 1st.
Eastern came up short against Eaton Rapids on Thursday, falling 19-6.
Eastern saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Beckett Stevens, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that Stevens has hit this season. Alejandro Eno was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
Everett came out on top against Sexton on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 17-run third inning. The Vikings blew past the Athletics 21-6. That 15-run margin sets a new team best for the Vikings this season.
Emmett Leidi was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isaiah Fundunburks, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Everett: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 0-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Owen Prevo, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Everett always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Everett is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-27.
