Soccer Recap: Albemarle Takes a Loss

Albemarle entered their matchup against Charlottesville on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Patriots took a 5-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Black Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Albemarle of the 2-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Gavin Appel and Matthew Mayo scored all three of Albemarle's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

This is the second loss in a row for Albemarle and nudges their season record down to 4-3-1. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored seven goals over those two games. As for Charlottesville, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 7-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Albemarle will take on Louisa County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Albemarle are facing Louisa County at the right time seeing as Louisa County are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Charlottesville, they will challenge Western Albemarle at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Charlottesville's defense better be ready for this one: Western Albemarle have averaged an impressive 2.7 goals per game this season.
