Basketball Recap: Abilene Christian Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Abilene Christian has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 59-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the First Baptist Saints on Friday.

Despite the defeat, Abilene Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brysonn Waggoner dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryinn Waggoner, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Dylan Jones continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for First Baptist, going 7 of 17 on his way to 22 points. The game was Jones' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Bradlee Mays, who put up six points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Abilene Christian's loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 17-6. As for First Baptist, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

Abilene Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 63-23 win against Covenant Classical on the 7th. As for First Baptist, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 91-16 victory against Cambridge on the 7th.
