Basketball Recap: Jefferson Comes Up Short

Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They fell 34-22 to the El Paso Tigers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Silver Foxes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-33 on January 10th.

El Paso's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eva Guevara, who posted 14 points and five boards. That's the most rebounds Guevara has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emma Guevara, who had eight points along with nine boards and five steals.

Jefferson's record now sits at 7-17. As for El Paso, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-22.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jefferson has already played their next match (against Canutillo), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. El Paso will square off against Burges at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Burges knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully El Paso likes a good challenge.
