Basketball Recap: Word of God Christian Academy Holy Rams vs. Hargrave Military Academy Tigers
After flying high against the Commission Leadership Academy Griffins last Thursday, the Word of God Christian Academy Holy Rams came back down to earth. Word of God Christian Academy took a hard 80-61 fall against the Tigers on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Word of God Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 195th in North Carolina, while the Tigers are ranked 46th in Virginia).
Hargrave Military Academy was led to victory by Ashton Hammock and Dante Kearse. Hammock went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 3 assists, while Kearse dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds. Kearse has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last nine times he's played. Jalen Carter was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Word of God Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 19-11. As for Hargrave Military Academy, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Word of God Christian Academy will take on the Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully New Life Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Tuesday. As for Hargrave Military Academy, they and the Eagles will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Oak Ridge Military Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
