Preview: Chapel Hill Tigers vs. East Chapel Hill Wildcats
The Chapel Hill Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the East Chapel Hill Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Chapel Hill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday.
After a string of three wins, Chapel Hill's good fortune finally ran out. They fell to Hillside 54-49. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Chapel Hill in their matchups with Hillside: they've now lost nine in a row.
Chapel Hill's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Andrew Herring, who scored ten points, and Ben Cohen Vogel who scored ten points. Cohen Vogel continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played.
Meanwhile, East Chapel Hill had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Cedar Ridge with a 35-31 victory on Wednesday. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points East Chapel Hill has scored all season.
Chapel Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 14-4. As for East Chapel Hill, their win ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-11.
Chapel Hill came up short against East Chapel Hill in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 46-38. Can Chapel Hill avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
