Softball Recap: James Monroe Takes a Loss

James Monroe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the Doddridge County Bulldogs.

Chloe Bert was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Arianna South, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

James Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Doddridge County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-3.

Looking ahead, James Monroe is taking a road trip to square off against Greenbrier West at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Mavericks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cavaliers have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Doddridge County, they will host Wahama at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The White Falcons will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
