Baseball Game Preview: Blake Bears vs. Breck Mustangs

The Blake Bears will challenge the Breck Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Blake will be strutting in after a win while Breck will be coming in after a defeat.

Blake was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Mounds Park Academy on Monday. The Bears put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 11-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won nine in a row.

Meanwhile, Breck was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Providence Academy, falling 10-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Lucas Schellhas was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Owen Van Horn, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.

Breck's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Blake, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Everything went Blake's way against Breck when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Blake made off with a 12-6 win. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
