Basketball Game Preview: Battle Mountain Longhorns vs. Yerington Lions

The Battle Mountain Longhorns will take on the Yerington Lions at 4:40 p.m. on Thursday. Battle Mountain is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.3 points per game this season.

Battle Mountain is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest loss since December 21, 2024 on Saturday. They came up short against Incline, falling 67-45.

Despite the defeat, Battle Mountain had strong showings from Geovanni Ruvalcaba, who went 5 of 11 to rack up 15 points, and Brodie Smith, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 16 points and six boards. The match was Ruvalcaba's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Adan Nevarez was another key player, putting up six points.

Meanwhile, Yerington strolled past Silver Stage with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 64-50. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Nighthawks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Battle Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Yerington, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

Battle Mountain didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Yerington in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 55-49 win. Will Battle Mountain repeat their success, or does Yerington have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
