Basketball Recap: Goleman Takes a Loss

Goleman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 51-38 to the Mater Academy Charter Lions. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Gators of the 48-24 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2022.

Mater Academy Charter was led to victory by Halle Jordan and Yakeisha Shillingford. Jordan went 5 of 8 en route to 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals, while Shillingford went 5 for 11 on her way to 13 points and six steals. Shillingford is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Osei, who posted four points and ten boards.

Goleman's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Mater Academy Charter, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-4.

Goleman has already played their next game (against Carol City), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Mater Academy Charter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-12 victory against Miami Beach on the 18th.
