Softball Game Preview: Locust Fork Hornets vs. Vinemont Eagles

The Locust Fork Hornets are taking a road trip to take on the Vinemont Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vinemont took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Locust Fork, who comes in off a win.

Locust Fork took a loss when they played away from home back in March, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed back in March. Everything went their way against Southeastern as they made off with a 9-3 victory. The Hornets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Vinemont was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They fell just short of Hanceville by a score of 4-2. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Locust Fork's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Vinemont, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.

Locust Fork came out on top in a nail-biter against Vinemont when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
