Basketball Game Preview: Benicia Panthers vs. Bishop O'Dowd Dragons

Having just played yesterday, the Benicia Panthers will jump right back in to play the Bishop O'Dowd Dragons at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Benicia is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Las Lomas just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 55-54 to the Knights.

Meanwhile, Bishop O'Dowd can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They strolled past San Leandro with points to spare, taking the game 69-50. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while the Pirates are ranked 695th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bishop O'Dowd's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Benicia, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-9.

Benicia was taken down by Bishop O'Dowd 89-58 in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Can Benicia avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
