Softball Recap: Mathews Picks Up 21st Straight Win at Home

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mathews had no problem doing just that on Monday. They blew past the Windham Bombers 13-2. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Bombers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Mathews pushed their record up to 22-4 with the win, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Windham, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.

Mathews will take on Badger in a tournament on Friday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Braves have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. Windham does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
