Union Grove had won three straight on the road, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 12-4 to make it four. They skirted past the Elkhorn Elks 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Broncos in their matchups with the Elks: they've now won three in a row.
River Jamison was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Ella Erickson was another key player, going 1-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Elkhorn, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6. Elks fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Union Grove since on Thursday.
On Elkhorn's side, Veronica Siegler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, Marlee Wester made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Uhlenhake, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
